ITIL Strategic Leader certification & Trainer preparation process

Strategic Leader is a separate branch of ITIL(r) certifications, which is aimed at digital transformation.

By now I passed the certification and the trainer evaluation track, and want to share my experience and thoughts about the process, certification, and their value.

I was deeply satisfied with how the trainer evaluation procedure is organized. Trainer evaluation is a multi-tiered step-by-step process, which enables high quality preparation of a trainer and provides guarantees of high-quality training processes.

First, a candidate passes a formal evaluation of his/her experience

At the second step a candidate works on the same assignments, which are delivered in the course. Assignments are evaluated individually.

Afterwards an face-2-face interview with an expert takes place. I appreciate greatly this experience as very helpful and valuable for me.

And finally, the certification exam. Let’s have a more close look at it, as the exam procedure can be interesting for more people.

To pass ITIL DITS certification a candidate should attend the authorized DITS – Digital IT Strategy – training, work out assignments – to be approved by a trainer, and afterwards a candidate is eligible to take an exam.

The exam is online. Candidates are eligible to use a hard copy module workbook and 4 blank sheets for comments.

The exam contains 30 questions with 4 answer options for each. Pass grade is 21 marks for all and 23 for trainers. The exam is not satisfactory in my point of view. While its aim is to confirm candidate’s ability to be a Strategic leader in digital transformation, most questions require remembering terms, which is better for the Foundation level.
