Oxford recommendations for implementing AI in Education

The Oxford University published a set of simple, but helpful recommendations on implementing and challenges of AI tools in higher and university education.

Ab excerpt from the publication –

Six tips to keep in mind when using generative AI tools

  1. Always cross-check AI generated outputs against established sources to verify accuracy and identify erroneous information.
  2. Give significant contextual information when asking questions or prompts and ask several follow-up questions to refine responses.
  3. Use personae in your prompts e.g. “I am an undergraduate student who is revising for a first-year calculus exam”.
  4. Give examples of the kind of responses you want.
  5. AI tools are not good at calculations so use other established tools, calculators, Excel or Mathematica.
  6. Do not share sensitive personal data such as financial details or passwords with AI tools. Avoid sharing your own or others intellectual property such as patents, trademarks, designs, sensitive information, or content created by others into any AI tools.

How can I renew my ITIL certifications

Starting 2023 Axelos(r) acquired Peoplecert and introduced new rules for renewing certifications. Each certification is valid for 3 years now. There are 3 ways to renew –

  • Pass a new exam. All certification periods for the previous certifications will be prolonged starting the last successful exam date.
  • Pass one of the previous exams again. For example, if you are ITIL Foundation, CSD, DPI certified, you can take ITIL DPI twice and renew ALL certifications.
  • Subscribe to Axelos membership resources here and gain 60 CPD during 3 years.

Stay tuned! Stay certified.

AI as a Virtual learning challenge

Hello Students,

I hope you are all doing well. As you know, we have an upcoming assignment due in a few days. I want to remind you all of the importance of completing this assignment on schedule.

By doing your work in a timely manner, you not only ensure that you have enough time to review and edit your work, but it also allows you to avoid last-minute stress and anxiety. Additionally, completing the assignment on time helps you to cultivate good time-management skills, which are essential to your academic and professional success.

Remember, the key to success is consistency and discipline. Try to set aside time each day to work on your assignment, break it down into manageable tasks, and prioritize your workload. And always remember, I am here to support and guide you through this process.

Good luck with the assignment, and I look forward to seeing your progress!

Is this appeal Inspiring? I really love it! BUT! it is created by ChatGPT for my request “appeal to students work carefully on their assignment”.

Referring to the survey #OESI performed 60% of its participants state that AI based systems will have hard impact on students’ work, and another 40% choose slight imact. Nobody says “nothing changes”.
The challenge raises when we work in virtual environment and p2p discussions with students are rare, and off-line postsl essays, etc. are often applied instead.

New rules for AXELOS certifications renewal

Here’s the excerpt from the Peoplecert official announcement:

starting this year, Global Best Practice certifications will be issued with a renew-by date.

Which certifications will come with a renewal requirement?

Your renew-by date can be viewed in your PeopleCert account.

Candidates that choose not to renew will still be included on the Successful Candidates Register (SCR) and the Candidate Verification Service, but a note will be added to their record to indicate that their certification needs to be renewed to align with current certification requirements.

How can you renew your certification?

Currently, there are two renewal paths available:

ITIL Strategic Leader certification & Trainer preparation process

Strategic Leader is a separate branch of ITIL(r) certifications, which is aimed at digital transformation.

By now I passed the certification and the trainer evaluation track, and want to share my experience and thoughts about the process, certification, and their value.

I was deeply satisfied with how the trainer evaluation procedure is organized. Trainer evaluation is a multi-tiered step-by-step process, which enables high quality preparation of a trainer and provides guarantees of high-quality training processes.

First, a candidate passes a formal evaluation of his/her experience

At the second step a candidate works on the same assignments, which are delivered in the course. Assignments are evaluated individually.

Afterwards an face-2-face interview with an expert takes place. I appreciate greatly this experience as very helpful and valuable for me.

And finally, the certification exam. Let’s have a more close look at it, as the exam procedure can be interesting for more people.

To pass ITIL DITS certification a candidate should attend the authorized DITS – Digital IT Strategy – training, work out assignments – to be approved by a trainer, and afterwards a candidate is eligible to take an exam.

The exam is online. Candidates are eligible to use a hard copy module workbook and 4 blank sheets for comments.

The exam contains 30 questions with 4 answer options for each. Pass grade is 21 marks for all and 23 for trainers. The exam is not satisfactory in my point of view. While its aim is to confirm candidate’s ability to be a Strategic leader in digital transformation, most questions require remembering terms, which is better for the Foundation level.
